NBHA FL07 Newsletter   August '07

Hey Everyone!

I sure hope everyone is being careful in this heat!  Man, it’s bad with the livestock is out there panting like dogs!  Maybe that’s why it’s called the “Dog Days of summer”!

I had the privilege of going to Youth World this year (haven’t been since Jodi was in her last year as a youth) and boy oh boy did we have a blast!  They have so much more fun things to do since we used to go!  I encourage everyone that qualifies next year to go!  I even got to go in the State Spirit parade and of course Florida won!  As I said, last time I went, they didn’t do any of that stuff, so it’s a lot more fun and a bunch more things to do.

Speaking of Youth World, I want to congratulate Jessica Whitaker for placing 7^th in the Youth 3D!  Way to go!!  There were 1478 contestants up at Youth World this year, so that’s quite an accomplishment!  I was also proud of the others that went too!  You guys are great!

Rule Reminder

Just want to remind everyone, that even though it’s hot as blue blazes out there, you can NOT wear tank tops (with straps less than 2”), crop tops or even “Y” back shirts (anything that bra straps or belly buttons show) while competing at an NBHA show.  Please don’t make me have to disqualify you!

Draws

Just to clear things up on our draws.  If you request being out of the draw, bottom of the draw or get there too late for the draw, then please note that your draw number is subject to change!  When I have someone that comes late with 2 or more horses, I try to space them out amongst those at the end of the draw so we don’t have to wait for them to change horses/tack.  So please pay attention to the announcer when they call out the next 5 in the drag!!

Running Late

And speaking of getting there late…Feel free to call my cell if you are running late and want to be entered before the class closes!  BUT, you will be responsible for any and all entry fees, even if you don’t show up!  If you are entered when the class starts, then you can NOT get a refund, so therefore, if you call me or somebody else and tell us to put you in the class, then you have to pay those entries.  If fees are not paid by next show, then you will be fined or disqualified.

Banquet Date!

YES!!  FINALLY!  Got all the awards in and ready to have a banquet!  We had some major saddle ordering problems and had to re-order saddles from a different company, so that’s why the banquet had been postponed so many times.  But everything is in now and the “tentative” date will be Sept 23 @ 5:30 at the Coach-N-Four in Crestview.  Connie is finalizing plans and will do a “Post” call to everyone with the final date, but it should be the 23^rd (covering our read ends here!)

Shows

Don’t forget we have a show Saturday @ 2:00 (exh 12:00) and our Oct. show will be the 20^th @ 1:00.  Also I’m sending with this letter the entry for our 2^nd annual District Challenge, held at the Covington Co. Complex in Andalusia, Nov. 30-Dec. 2.  Be sure and come and help us keep the Challenge cup!!  We won it last year and don’t want to have to give it back!

Makeup Show!!!!!!!!

Our May’s makeup show will be on Saturday of the District Challenge show!!  I will be getting points from THIS show for the show that was cancelled in May!
