NBHA FL07 Newsletter   February '06

Hey All and Happy Valentine’s Day!!
This newsletter is packed with a lot of news and info so read carefully!

SHOW DATE CHANGED!!!

Please NOTE!!!  Our March 18th date has been changed to MARCH 4TH!!! Due to the NBHA Super Show the same weekend.   It will still be at Baker @ 1:00 (exh. 11:00)  This will also be a sanctioned IBRA show (separate class).

Banquet Date, Place & Time

Finally got the news on the Awards Banquet.  It will be at Sonny’s Bar B-Q  in Crestview (just north of I10 on Hwy 85N…Crestview exit), 4:00 on Sunday, February 26th.  It will be a regular order your own meal, if you want to eat.  We will hold it in their banquet room.  The awards committee has gotten together some really nice awards this year and don’t forget our “Most Improved Rider” award!  That will be revealed at the banquet!

Also I forgot to tell you in the last newsletter how the ties were figured and broken for the awards.  In those divisions where we had ties, we took the fastest time of the last show of the ’05 season (Nov. since Dec was July’s makeup show) to determine the winner of that placing.  The person with the slower time was the next place down.  I went to the class sheets of the Nov show and started looking for times in the divisions with the ties in them.  (ex: Tie for 2nd in 4 D…person A had a faster time  at the last show in the 4 D than person B)  Co. Reps decided this was how they were going to break the ties and I agreed it was the fairest way.

The Fair is Coming!!

It’s getting time for the Santa Rosa County Fair, and our annual Fair Jackpot there.  We will, with the generousity of Coastal Machinery in Pensacola, be having a $500 added barrel race, Thursday, April 6th at the Fair.  Exh. Will start at 5:30 and show at 7:00.  This will be an Open 4 D only due to time limits.  If you enter the jackpot (can bring 1 guest per rider) you can get into the fair for free!  So plan on coming!  It’ll be at the East Milton Arena.  Also, if you work as barrel setters, then that will count towards your work hours.  This one is NOT a sanctioned show,  just a jackpot with proceeds going to our district for awards.

Best for Last!

We now have a website!!!  I am real excited about this!  Tony Roberson, from Mississippi is doing our website.  You need to check it out as soon as you can!  Although it’s not completely finished, there’s enough there you’ll be able to see what’s going on!  He has points, schedule,  and newsletters there right now.  There will be a “Forum” page where you can post questions to me and I’ll be able to answer them (hopefully!) and other topic lines, like Miscellaneous (post questions, statements, opinions) where anyone can comment on barrel racing topics and training tips where everyone can share their ideas and questions on training.  Now we need to find sponsors that would want to have their ads (and / or) links on here.  If you know of anyone, we’ll put their ad and or link each $100 a year.  If they’d like to sponsor the home page, where their ad exclusively is on there, that will be $300.  Even without sponsors after the initial set up is paid for, just the savings on postage will pay for the site to be maintained.  So, when you get the chance check out: www.nbhafl07.com   You can even have an email account here!  Right now Jayme and Jodi’s pictures are on there, as that’s all I had to send him.  You can send him emails of pictures at his address: webmaster@nbhafl07.com for him to put on.  He said he’d change them every so often.

And speaking of computers and emails, I will be sending out these newsletters via email and have them posted on the website.  On my directors list from Headquarters, most of you have email addresses.  I will use these addresses and snail mail to those that don’t have one.  If you DO have an email address that you did not put on your membership application, please let me know what it is!!  If you have changed  your address, let me know that too!  I realize that this month there might be a couple that won’t receive a newsletter, due to an incorrect address.  I apologize ahead of time for that, but, there’s not a whole lot I can do about it, if you don’t tell me something!  Also, my email address has changed.  When we moved our office phone line to the new office, I had to put my computer on my home line and therefore get a new address.  It’s a pain, but, had to be done.  My new address is:   jaranch@bellsouth.net

Well, I hope to see each and everyone of you at the banquet.  I hope everyone can come!  If not, we’ll see ya on the 4th @ Baker!!!
