NBHA FL07 Newsletter
October '07
Howdy FL 07 members!
Aren’t you glad fall is here and the days have been (at lest for a few days!) cooler?! It’s about time!! October 20
Show Don’t forget our next show is this weekend, the 20th, @ 1:00. Exhibitions will be @ 11:00. Always try to remember that where it says our show times in BHN or on the NBHA website, our exhibitions start 2 hours earlier than show time! (There has been some confusion about this. New NBHA Youth Qualification Rules NBHA home off ice sent a notice that starting this coming year, I will have to send in qualifiers from the Youth into the home office as Youth and Teen qualifiers. Meaning more Youth will be able to qualify for Youth World! More work for me, but I’ll be happy to do it! I will now (starting in ’08) break up the Youth points to reflect the Youth division and Teen division. (You might have to remind me though! Hee hee) T-Shirts I’m not sure if everyone saw the District T-shirts I had done for the Youth at World in July…I’ve sold what I had ordered and taken orders for more. I did order a few extras, so if you want one, let me know at the show. If we run out of your size, we can order more. They really look great! New Addition!!! Most of you know Kelley (Harrell) Stedham, daughter of our announcer, Judy Harrell….Well, Judy & Glenn would like to announce and welcome, Colton James Stedham, arriving Oct. 5, 2007 and weighing in at 8 lbs 11 ½ oz. (and 3 weeks early!!) After a short bout of complications they hope to have him at home with mom, Kelley & dad, Brandon by the time you get this newsletter. District Challenge Don’t forget the District Challenge, Nov 30-Dec 2 in Andalusia (Covenington Center)! We need all members to compete on Saturday and Sunday to help win and keep the Challenge Cup trophy!! Saturday’s show will be a sanctioned show for our district!! It will be our May’s makeup show! Sad News Oct. 10th was the day of the hardest decision, Jodi (Ates) Sears had to ever make. She had to have her best friend and partner, aka “Copper” put down due to sever laminitis (founder). Copper delivered (with help from Jodi) a BIG colt back in May and developed founder a few weeks later. She and Jodi fought a hard battle for several months, but lost it last Wednesday. Copper carried Jodi to 8 World Shows (Open & Youth). She won Jodi several belt buckles, a saddle and was named Alabama High School Rodeo’s Horse of the Year in 1998. She may never have won a World Championship, but she did win a place in all our hearts as a family member. Our condolences to Jodi. November Show Our last show of the season (don’t forget our makeup show at District Challenge!) will be November 17 @ 1:00 (remember, exhibitions will be 2 hours before (11:00)). After the District Challenge show, I will compile and go over points to be sent to Augusta at NBHA headquarters, so in the December I’ll list the 2008 qualifiers for World and Youth World. Hopefully this time we’ll have our awards banquet a little sooner! Awards We had a really nice turnout and time at our Awards Banquet! The awards were great, different and unusual things this year, thanks to Connie, Tonya, Jayme, Ricky and Jodi, our County Reps & volunteers!! If you do not pick up your awards from Connie at the October show, they will be used as door prizes for next year! If you cannot be there, then have someone get them for you! We will have them in the office at the show. See ya’ll Saturday! |
